I only use a tablet for video consumption on my travels, nothing else, so I don’t feel the need to have the slickest OS/UI, most power, etc. I want a tablet with a large screen, long battery life, and durable/low cost enough to throw it into any of my bags without fear of breaking anything.
For less than 1/3 the cost of an iPad, you can get an Amazon Fire 10″ tablet with an HD screen and a battery that can last 12 hours on a charge. I’m on my second one after upgrading on Prime day to a model with a bit more RAM and, more importantly, a USB-C port, so I now have no reason to carry a micro-USB cable or adapter. Pairing this with the iFlex stand is the perfect tablet combination for traveling.
